Blog Updates and Joe Romeo

Hello again!

Sorry for the lack of recent updates. Things have been a little crazy with the end of the semester. But the ArtsCenter Photoblog is now back and ready to keep you updated on the ArtsCenter all summer. My partner in crime, Lisa, has left us for the summer, so I will be going it alone. Maybe at some point we can convince her to give us an update on what she is doing this summer. In the meantime, since there is only one of me, I would love reader help in maintaining the blog. So if you take pictures at ArtsCenter related events, send them in!

And now to the interesting stuff. Last Thursday was the kick off to the 5:40 concert series. A partnership between East 54 and the ArtsCenter, the 5:40 concert series will showcase a local band every other Thursday throughout the summer. Joe Romeo kicked off the series on a gorgeous evening. Saturday marked The ArtsCenter’s 35th year in Carrboro. There was a live auction, live music from the Triangle Jazz Orchestra and a fantastic magician–all there to help keep the arts centered.

Eurydice

The ArtsCenter is pleased to present a modern production of Eurydice.

“The most magical love story of all time, this is a play for sighing and crying; singing out loud and dancing with abandon. A contemporary telling of the Orpheus and Eurydice myth…but this time it’s from Eurydice’s point of view.”

Shows are May 13-15 and May 20-22 at 8pm and May 16 & 23 at 3pm. Tickets range from $10-$14.

The Monti with Elizabeth Edwards

The last time The Monti came to The ArtsCenter, Lyndsay got to shoot it and raved about it to me. So when I saw The Monti on the calendar, I was excited! Five story-tellers, including Elizabeth Edwards, shared unscripted memories on the theme of “Mothers & Fathers”–photos are below (click “more” to get the full view).
