There are a ton of exciting things going on this week as the ArtsCenter. First up is the Summer Youth Preforming Arts Conservatory’s performance of Drood: The Musical. The Summer Youth Conservatory is a collaboration between the ArtsCenter and Playmakers Repertory Company, the professional theater company at UNC. It pairs talented young theater students with professional directors, choreographers and designers. Five weeks of classes cumulated in a staged production.
Based on the unfinished novel by Charles Dickens, Drood is a Tony Award winning musical in which the audience participates in solving a murder mystery. I got to sit in on two rehearsals this week and these kids are really talented and the show is a lot of fun. You won’t want to miss it. Check out a few rehearsal photos below and be sure to go see the show, which runs through Sunday. Click here for more information about show times and how to purchase tickets.
