Registration is now open for Fall 2010 Youth Preforming Arts Conservatory Classes. Classes are available for students in Kindergarten up through 12th grade. There are many classes to choose from including on camera acting, stage combat, improv and theater tech. Also, new this fall is the YPAC School of Rock and Roll. Classes are offered in music video production, concert lighting, live audio engineering and even being in a rock band! Students in the School of Rock and Roll will work together to produce a final live concert at Cats Cradle. Check out the ArtsCenter’s website for more information on the classes, and check below for some photos from some of this summer’s YPAC classes.

CPJW

Hey ArtsLovers!

I’m back from a summer away! If you want to see some of the stuff I did this summer and some other really cool multimedia work from UNC students, check out http://www.carolinaphotojournalism.org/cpjw/2010. It’s a collaboration to tell stories about places and personalities in the beautiful blue ridges of Little Switzerland, NC.

In May 2010, during the seventh annual Carolina Photojournalism Workshop, 19 students produced a diverse collection of stories that document life in and around the small mountain town of Little Switzerland, N.C. The base camp was located at Wild Acres, a beautiful retreat located on Pompey’s Knob, a mountain just off the Blue Ridge Parkway, at an altitude of 3,300 feet.

Situated on the edge of Pisgah National Forest, the area surrounding Little Switzerland boasts of all those things we love about western North Carolina, from scenic vistas and ancient forests to artisans and guitar-pickin’ heroes.
