The Monti

The Monti returned to The ArtsCenter last night in front of a sold out crowd. Greg Taylor headlined a group of five storytellers who shared moments from their lives. Taylor made local and national headlines last February as the first person ever to be found innocent by the N.C. Innocence Inquiry Commission, the only state-run agency in the country that investigates claims of innocence.  In May, he received a full pardon from Governor Bev Perdue.  All this came after Taylor spent over seventeen years in prison for a murder he didn’t commit.

Photos from the night are below–more after the page break!

The Monti with Elizabeth Edwards

The last time The Monti came to The ArtsCenter, Lyndsay got to shoot it and raved about it to me. So when I saw The Monti on the calendar, I was excited! Five story-tellers, including Elizabeth Edwards, shared unscripted memories on the theme of “Mothers & Fathers”–photos are below (click “more” to get the full view). For future Monti events, click here.

Coming up next in theater at The ArtsCenter: Eurydice, running May 13-23 Thursdays through Saturdays at 8 p.m., 3 p.m. Sundays.

The Season Opening of the Monti

The Monti opened its season with both some laughs and some tender moments. Five storytellers captivated a sizeable crowd at the ArtsCenter with their own unique take on the theme of heroism. For those unfamiliar with it, The Monti is a storytelling show. Five performers each tell a story about 12 minutes centered around a central theme.  The Monti is held once a month. Look for more photos from the next show in October.

The stage is set simply for the season opener of the Monti.
