In the spirit of the 2010 Olympic Winter Games, and because I am something of an Olympics nerd, your link this week is the official photography page of the Games in Vancouver. You can sort through photos of your favorite sport (my personal favorite is always figure skating) or relive the opening ceremony through the lenses of some of the world’s best sports photographers. Enjoy!

Our first link in 2010 is SportsShooter.com, a great resource for people interested in photographing sports, as well as news and documentary-style projects. The message boards always have some interesting debates among pro photographers, and the equipment reviews give you pro opinions on all sorts of gear.

PhotoNight LII

PhotoNight at UNC’s School of Journalism and Mass Communication is back and in full swing! Tuesday night, Gary W. Green, a sports photographer, will share his photos and speak in room 33 of Carroll Hall on UNC’s campus. PhotoNight is free, open to the public and a rare opportunity to hear pro photographers talk about why and how they make their photos. Previous PhotoNights have featured Antonin Kratchovil of VII Photo Agency (also the home of James Nachtwey, one of my favorite photographers), Kristen Ashburn, Ami Vitale, Steve Liss, Pete Souza, Chris Hondros and various photographers from the News & Observer.

Below is the email from my professor with more about Gary W. Green. Feel free to email me if you don’t know how to get to Carroll 33, and I’ll help you out!
