Link Wednesday VI

I can’t believe it’s the sixth week of Link Wednesday! Here’s a special one: Mediastorm. It’s a really interesting multimedia website that a UNC professor, Chad Stevens, has done some work for. Some very interesting, very sad pieces.

Interesting Link Wednesday

Wednesdays are pretty slow days at the ArtsCenter, so I’m going to start linking to the outside world of photography.

This week’s link is a slideshow. Last semester in my photojournalism class, we used to look at MSNBC.com’s Photos of the Week in almost every class. I saw this slideshow covering the last decade in 59 images yesterday, and it hit me pretty hard.  I think it shows the huge scope of photojournalism, from the cutesy pictures of animals and kids (and nuns!) to images of war zones and natural disasters. It’s intense.

Some of the images are really graphic (MSNBC tells you which ones), so be warned.

Tomorrow: Lyndsay covers the Great Big Gone outdoor concert.

An interesting link

Hey photoblog world!

I was surfing the New York Times today and came across this interesting blog of theirs about using photos for illustrations and editorials. I don’t want to say too much because I think the juxtaposition of the photo and its crop is pretty funny, but it’s an inside look into photojournalism that I find a little scary coming from Newsweek.

It’s part of Lens blog, the NYT’s relatively new photoblog. Check it out!

And stay tuned for gipsy jazz tomorrow with John Jorgensen!
