ArtSchool: Introduction to Pastel Painting

Today I dropped into Herb Slapo’s Introduction to Pastel Painting class and shot some of their artwork. They’re in the third week of their class and already making some beautiful pastel drawings! Check out photos below (more after the page break–click “more”).

Later on I’ll be posting more photos from a Hip-Hop Dance class and Plates and Platters pottery class. Stay tuned!

ArtSchool Class: Bollywood Dance

Dina C. Fifadra teaches Bollywood Dance on Thursdays at the ArtsCenter. Bollywood dance, named for the prolific Indian movie industry, combines the styles of classical Indian dance, belly dancing and hip-hop with a little bit of mystique and a lot of great music.

The next section of the class meets Thursdays from 6 to 7 p.m., Oct. 29 to Dec. 10. Sign up here.

ArtSchool Class: Indian Cooking

I got to go to Rani Imandi’s Indian Cooking class tonight at the Century Center! The group made dosa, a south Indian dish, with sambaar (a soup), coconut chutney, potato curry, lemon rice, idli (a cake made with dal) and rice pudding. It was delicious!
