Solas

Celtic band Solas played The ArtsCenter last night, showing off their range playing violin, guitar, accordion, flute, keyboards, and–of all things–banjo! The show finished up The ArtsCenter’s 4th annual Celtic Concert Series. Check back next year for more Irish music! More photos after the page jump–click “more.”

Seamus Egan plays flute in one of the band's more traditional Irish songs.

Eamon McElholm plays guitar during the band's set.

Máiréad Phelan sings a Josh Ritter song called "Girl in the War."

Winifred Horan looks to Mick McAuley as she plays violin during the band's second set.

An audience member was drawing one of the band members--I think it was Seamus. How cool is that?!

Mick McAuley sings during the band's first set.

Seamus Egan makes a joke about violinist Winifred Horan's dislike for the banjo.

Mick McAuley jumps in to ask the audience "How long does it take to tune a banjo?" The punchline: "No one knows!"

Winifred Horan and Eamon McElholm look to Seamus Egan for as the band tries an experimental song for the first time in front of an audience.

  1. What fantastic photo bloggers we have, who include details in their captions such as the subtle written accents in Irish names (ie: Máiréad).
