Catie Curtis performed last night with cellist Lindsay Mac opening in The ArtsCenter’s 7th annual American Roots Series. They played cello like a guitar (cello-tar?), directed an audience singalong, and even improvised lyrics about Carrboro.

A volunteer leads the audience in a singalong using sign language (or something like it).

Mac bows her cello during an experiment: she laid down multiple tracks on stage using a footpedal to layer the sound of her cello.
