The ArtsCenter recently welcomed a new executive director. Ed Camp took over the reins of the ArtsCenter last month. Camp has spent 26 years working in shopping center marketing and managment. He spent a year as the General Manager at University Mall before spending the last 25 years traveling around the country. He has also served on a number of non-profit boards. A UNC School of Journalism alum, Camp is excited to be back in the area after his 25 year absence.

Camp has spent the past several weeks working with the ArtsCenter staff to establish both short and long term goals. His short term goals include expanding the Board of Directors. Camp is also interested in recieving community feedback and will hold a series of open houses in the coming months.

“For over 35 years, the ArtsCenter has been honored to serve our local community with a diverse combination of art classes, performances, cultural events, children’s programs and much, much more. We’ve grown from a few art classes in a room above a Carrboro storefront to our multitasking facility in the heart of a vibrant and alive arts scene in downtown Carrboro,” Camp said in a recent email.

“We are all working together to plot a course for an even more exciting future, and I can’t wait to share our plans with you.”
